On June 26th, 1862, General Robert E. Lee iniatiated the Seven Days Campaign by crossing the Chickahominy River. Beaverdam Creek Battlefield has been preserved by the American Battlefield Trust and there is a walking trail across the creek from the Confederate to Union side.
