Historic Polegreen Church

About

Historic Polegreen Church was at the center of the fight for religious freedom and civil liberties in the middle of the 18th century. Samuel Davies, a prominent minster, was one of the first dissenters of the Anglican Church in Virginia. Patrick Henry once worshipped at Polegreen Church and credited Davies for influencing his public speaking. During the Civil War the church was destroyed, but an open air reconstruction of the original church and meeting house can be viewed. Polegreen Church is open year-round for weddings and events.
